The Timberdick Mysteries are a series of murder stories set in the sleazy back-streets of a south coast seaport in post war Britain.

The amateur detective is a call-girl who solves the mysteries by listening carefully to what people say. “I got there by thinking, not by fingerprints,” she tells her policeman in the first novel.  

The first three titles followed the characters through 1963-65. The Case of The Dirty Verger took us back to 1947 and Timberdick's first nights on Goodladies Road. The Parish of Frayed Ends returned to 1965 and Timbers' changing world.

A Mystery of Cross Women told us about Ned's early career in 1937, providing the first episode in the saga.

The Clue of the Curate's Cushion picked up the story in February 1966.  Now, The Case of the Naughty Wife provides a '66 sequel that has an eye of the 1940's.
